Rocky Horror Picture Show remake gets its premiere date

Publish date: 2024-06-14

The premiere date for Fox’s Rocky Horror Picture Show remake has been revealed at San Diego Comic-Con.

The TV adaptation will premiere on October 20, just in time for your pre-Halloween celebrations. Lucky fans at Comic-Con were treated to the first 25 minutes of the two-hour show, and it was very well received. Fans got to witness ‘Time Warp’ and ‘Sweet Transvestite’, two of the most iconic songs from the musical.

Since then, a one minute trailer has also been unveiled, which seems to capture the best bits of the preview given to those at Comic-Con. The teaser opens with a movie theatre called Castle, showing ‘Science Fiction/Double Feature’. It has been revealed that this is opening number and is performed by a female usher.

The trailer continues with shots from the adaptation, alternating with the words ‘After 40 years, the best part of Rocky is still the fans’. Similarly to real life Rocky Horror screenings, we can see that there is an audience which reacts to different cues. In the trailer we see the fans covering their heads with newspaper, similarly to Janet (Victoria Justice). They also urge Dr. Frank’N’Furter (Laverne Cox) to say the infamous line, ‘shiver with anticipation’.

During the trailer, we also get a glimpse at Tim Curry as the Criminologist/narrator. He previously starred as Dr. Frank’N’Furter in the original production. We are also treated to a bit of the ‘Time Warp’, followed by short clips from the adaptation.

It was said during Comic-Con that the remake appears to stick rather closely to the original, which will be great news for fans of the production. We’re already beyond excited and can’t wait to see more teasers in the run up to its October release.
