Recap of America's Got Talent Auditions Week 2

Publish date: 2024-06-11

America’s Got Talent has officially returned for its 12th season with its judges Heidi Klum, Mel B, Howie Mandel and Simon Cowell, and new host Tyra Banks!

Last week on the season premiere, we saw a set of amazing acts, one being a 12-year-old ventriloquist named Darci Lynne. The episode broke records as it was the most watched season premiere of America’s Got Talent in six years!

The premiere definitely set the bar high, and the contestants this week surely delivered. In case you missed the auditions last night, here is a recap!

1.) Mia Moore

The first act of the night was the duo of the Edna and Mia Moore. Edna is from Lighthouse Point, Florida and Mia is her pet dog, who is named after the Spanish phrase “mi amor,” which translates to “my love.” It is clear that this pair has a strong connection, so much that Edna has trained Mia to count and read. Don’t believe us? Just watch it for yourself below.

2.) Diavolo

Diavolo is a dancing group from Los Angeles, California. However, they’re aren’t any ordinary dancing group. Diavolo takes it to another level by incorporating elegant dance moves on a rocking structure, which they built themselves. They train long hours a day to make their performances just right, because one wrong move can mean serious danger.

3.) Chase Goehring

Chase Goehring is a 21-year-old Tennessee native who performed an original song called “Hurt.” The song is based on his own experience of witnessing a girl he liked being with the wrong guy. The judges were blown away by his performance, especially once it took a turn at the second half of the song.

4.) Jimmy Slonina

Jimmy Slonina unfortunately did not go through to the next round, as the judges were split in their decision. Jimmy is from Las Vegas and he has a very unconventional partner that you just have to see for yourself!

5.) Artyon & Paige

Artyon & Paige may only be nine and eight years old, but they really dance! The two performed an upbeat performance that made us smile the entire time watching it. Heidi, Mel B, and Howie all loved the performance as well, but the same couldn’t be said for Simon.

Nick Uhas is a chemist who proves that science can be fun. Watch below as he asks the judges to perform some wild experiments which that ends with a bang.

8.) Billy & Emily England

Billy & Emily England are a brother and sister pair who give a new meaning to “roller-skating” with their dangerous performance. Once they walked on stage, Simon immediately recognized them as contestants who auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent. Simon said that he always hoped they would come over to the US and audition here, and that is exactly what they did.

9.) Angelica Hale

Angelica Hale is a 9-year-old girl with a huge voice! Her parents said that just a few years ago, they would have never believed she would be singing on the AGT stage because of her illness, which left her needing a kidney transplant. Fortunately, her mother donated her kidney to Angelica, saving her. For her audition, Angelica sang Andra Day’s “Rise Up.”

10.) Azeri Brothers

The Azeri Brothers were definitely a performance to remember, as they risked their own lives performing dangerous stunts. Many people in the audience and the judges themselves had to look away for certain parts. Although the judges were split in their decision, they eventually let the Azeri Brothers move on to the next round.

11.) Mandy Harvey

The most talked-about performance of the night was Mandy Harvey. She lost her hearing when she was eighteen years old, just as she was attending music school. She believed that she wouldn’t be able to perform again, but with years of perseverance, Mandy defied the odds. Now ten years after losing her hearing, Mandy performed an original song called “Try” about her experience. Simon was so moved he pressed the golden buzzer for her!
